Amanda & Jake’s Jeune Lune wedding was a true gem.  I mean, absolutely every little detail was so lovely, so thoughtful, so very THEM! We loved the twist of a raw, historic converted warehouse venue with their formal attire and abundance of chic details. Amanda worked at length with the florist, vintage rental company, and planner to create the most beautiful, imaginative tablescapes I have ever seen!  Intermixed in the moss, cloches, flowers, kale, and candles, were itty bitty plastic animals, adding a little quirk to all the class. Jake, who is a talented musician, convinced his college band to reunite and play a set at the reception (jamming together for the first time in several years!), making the party an absolute smash. Perhaps our favorite part of the day: sticking around to capture them bid their final farewells of the evening by hopping into a pedicab!  (Yay for all the fun ways to ride bikes in Minneapolis!!)  We felt so honored to be invited photograph this hip couple, meet their sweet family & friends, and to work with all of their incredible vendors!

It sometimes gives me chills to think that the photos we’ll snap this weekend and next will become objects of antiquity, timeless heirlooms that are a precious part of one’s history. How remarkable and humbling to imagine the legacy of a couple’s wedding photos, lasting beyond their very long, happy lifetime!  As a wedding photographer, I dream that every image I make will freeze tiny moments of the happiest day, capturing emotion and aesthetic that is timeless.  Whether treasured in tiny frames or luxurious albums, I sincerely hope that our images would only grow sweeter and more cherished with each generation.

I’m short on words to express how much I loved being a part of this wedding, yet all I can do is gush: Absolutely everything about it was so sweet, clean, and beautiful. Stunningly beautiful. This day was a dream come true for Clare & Tom, who snapped up a last-minute opening at the Enchanted Barn and planned this entire, gorgeous day in just 3 months!! (Superhuman!) When Clare first got in touch with us those few short months ago, we had to stop and pinch ourselves—we had been dying for a chance to shoot at this venue and were absolutely thrilled that she and Tom picked US to capture the breathtaking day they created there with their family and friends!  Clare is an amazingly talented lady, who has a side gig of selling vintage goods and designing jewelry.  So when it came to her wedding, every last detail was perfectly planned and accented with her fabulous collections of antiques.

Seeing the light flood through the sides of the barn and the breeze dance with the white curtains, literally made me weep for beauty before Clare even walked down the aisle. It was all so heavenly. I say this every, single, time–but I feel so blessed and privileged to have this job and to be so intimately involved with the most beautiful people, places, and things on earth. Congrats Tom & Clare on your lovely new life together!

The brief stretch of time when the sun is low in the sky, just ready to slip below the horizon and kiss the world goodnight, is our favorite time of day. This magic hour is filled with the most abundant, soft, beautiful light, which makes everything it touches 100x MORE warm and lovely. I want to drink it up.

We love it when our couples make a little time to sneak away from their celebration (perhaps between their dinner and dance) to take advantage of this light and create sunset photos with us. Not only is the light divine, but brides and grooms are more relaxed and carefree, once all of the pressure of the day is off, and it totally shows. These often are the best images of the day.

It was such a thrill to share this special time with Breanne & Jon on their wedding day. We had such a blast at their perfect farm wedding and cannot wait to share more of the sun-soaked loveliness!
