There are so many wonderful things about every season in the Midwest–we enjoy such a rich variety in landscape & weather!  This also means you have a narrow window to take advantage of really sweet seasonal things—like a warm Autumn evening full of perfectly ripened apples.  When I proposed this idea to the Joswiaks for their photo session, I was SO excited that they happily obliged and showed up looking adorable and ready to rock the orchard.  Their daughter is such a bright & spunky 2-year-old who we absolutely love and is so obviously adored by her parents!! The Joswiaks are long-time dear family friends of ours and we are so glad that the recently moved back to Minnesota! Hoping that means we can see lots more of them and little T’s sweet curls…

It is such an incredible honor to step into a couple’s intimate circle and capture the most beautiful moments of perhaps the most beautiful day of their lives.  Just wow. The thrill of it never gets old. Call me a hopelessly romantic adrenaline junkie, but I seriously love every second. Which pretty much sums up how I feel about Alana & Conrad’s day at the Mill City Museum.  These two are just amazing together and poured so much thought, class, and local flair into their event.  Alana was drop dead glamorous in her chic & sophisticated gown.  I adore how she added pops of sapphire blue both in a vintage brooch on her dress and with the most fabulous shoes adorned with star-bursts of ribbon…which just so happened to perfectly complement her earrings. Or vice versa.  And her bouquet from Spruce pulled everything together on a whole new level! Then Mr. Conrad showed up looking equally dapper in a custom-tailored pinstripe suit from Heimie’s Haberdashery.  Seriously, have you ever seen a more STUNNING bride & groom!? I cannot stop gushing. Their Minnesota-themed wedding was the perfect place to kick-off their long & happy life together.  We were just so delighted to be a part of such a classy night!

I know, I know, it’s still October. But seriously friends, my mind is already swirling with ideas for Christmas cards + photos. Maybe it’s because we’re getting ready for mini sessions next weekend, but more honestly it’s because I absolutely adore this season! For the past two years, Jeff & I have printed our own Christmas cards from Minted, because we love their service and we doubly love their quality and aesthetic!  That’s why we always direct our amazing clients to do the same. It’s not too soon to begin thinking about what sort of holiday greetings you’ll drop in the mail, and now is a golden time for a family photo session with us.  Although our seasonal mini sessions are booked solid, there’s still ample opportunity for a regular session on your timeline, in a beautiful outdoor location. Now through December, I plan to post weekly inspiration boards to help you dream up the perfect style + color palette for your photo + cards!  Happy Weekending!!

This day was a complete dream come true for Ashley—a perfect afternoon in the backyard of her childhood home, overlooking the lake near Sauk Centre Minnesota where she had spent lazy summers swimming and learning to water-ski with her sisters. I don’t think she could have imagined a more meaningful, beautiful place to marry Geoff, her college crush, now handsome husband. Their friends and family pitched in with tremendous amounts of time and love to help make this day so special for these two lovebirds! We loved that Ashley choose to walk down the aisle wearing Toms wedges—so perfect and practical for the backyard setting. After tearful I-dos, Ashley & Geoff, along with their wedding party, raced down the hill and hopped into her parents’ pontoon for a Just Married joy ride around the lake. Boat rides continued into the night—until all the guests had a chance to take a spin! This day was so rich with nervous excitement, joy, and togetherness, and we felt so honored to be there to document it! Congrats Ashley & Geoff, we just know you’ll make endless new summertime memories with your family in this special place, each time you return & remember the day you became husband & wife!
