Hello friends! Hoping you enjoyed a lovely Thanksgiving. I adore having a chance to pause and reflect on exactly how grateful I am for this life of ours. I sometimes cannot believe how extravagantly blessed we are. It seems so unfair that we live in a wonderful, warm home with plenty of food, clean water, and so much love to go around—when so much of the world does not.
We barely think twice about basic survival, and we thrive. Everyday, we do what we love. We have one of the most rewarding careers in the world—simply capturing love and contributing beauty to people’s lives…

Next up: Christmas. I am so ready for this sweet season of giving. So far I’ve checked just one thing off my holiday to-do list: Ordering Christmas cards! We love Minted, because it’s a giant pool of the best indie designers on earth. We order our personal photo cards from them and always tell our clients to do the same! They have some great Black Friday & Cyber Monday deals going on this weekend, so be sure to take a peek. Their Pine Cones card by Snow & Ivy (below) sparked my brain and inspired this serene little board. If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I am obsessed with pastel colors. I love pastels for every season and holiday—and the wintery ones are no exception.
Whether you are making a mad dash to the store, or simply enjoying family time this weekend, I hope you feel refreshed, inspired, & overwhelmed by gratitude.pine cones + pastel by Jessica, see more corporate holiday cards

This morning we woke to a wintery wonderland! There is nothing more refreshing and beautiful than welcoming the first snowy blanket of the season. It makes me feel like a kid again.  Even though there was barely enough to coat the sidewalk, we still raced through breakfast, just so little boy could try on his brand new snow pants and tear through the yard, leaving a million tiny bootprints behind.  Last year we experienced an uncharacteristically warm, dry winter.  This year I say bring.it.on. I am dreaming of white fluffy days…

Each week this month, I am sharing a little eye candy to help inspire your holiday photos!  Take a peek at style boards No. 1 // No. 2. And don’t forget to check out our stationery partner, Minted!

Now that our yard is raked and our little boy’s Halloween candy has mysteriously disappeared, we are officially ready and excited for winter! It feels really wonderful to have wrapped up our “regular season” weddings, to be getting caught up with all of our office work, and to be shooting lots of family sessions just in time for seasonal greetings!  Each weekend during the month of November, I am sharing a little eye candy to help you get inspired for your annual holiday photos + card! (See last week’s edition here.) As an aside, we heart Minted cards, because they showcase some of the most talented independent designers around–and so we have partnered with them to create a special stationery shop just for our clients! Also, we still have space for a few portrait sessions this month–please book before 11/20 to ensure that you’ll have your photos in time for Christmas!

I know, I know, it’s still October. But seriously friends, my mind is already swirling with ideas for Christmas cards + photos. Maybe it’s because we’re getting ready for mini sessions next weekend, but more honestly it’s because I absolutely adore this season! For the past two years, Jeff & I have printed our own Christmas cards from Minted, because we love their service and we doubly love their quality and aesthetic!  That’s why we always direct our amazing clients to do the same. It’s not too soon to begin thinking about what sort of holiday greetings you’ll drop in the mail, and now is a golden time for a family photo session with us.  Although our seasonal mini sessions are booked solid, there’s still ample opportunity for a regular session on your timeline, in a beautiful outdoor location. Now through December, I plan to post weekly inspiration boards to help you dream up the perfect style + color palette for your photo + cards!  Happy Weekending!!
