Our hearts are so full. One week ago today this little miss entered the world and changed our lives in the most wonderful way! We cannot believe our family has been gifted the most beautiful, healthy baby GIRL!! The past seven days have been a whirlwind of snuggles, visitors, packages filled with pink, and a lot of poopy diapers. We are loving every precious waking minute–even if there are a whole lot more waking minutes than we’ve been accustomed to. Promise there will be many many more photos to come of Violet Girl, but right now we’re doing our best to keep up with our clients and catch up on rest. (:

If pregnancy were a marathon, then meeting your babe at the end would be the finish line—times 1,000. I quite honestly cannot recall a more profound moment in my life than the day we finally met our little boy, Graham. I’d never felt quite so alive. Now here we are, getting crazy anxious to do it all over again and meet the newest babycakesterson SOON. I’m really grateful that Jeff had a chance to photograph this bump of mine beforehand. In case you love bellies and stories about bellies, you can read more about this sweet time in our family here.
We shared a few words about our experience at the Film Is Not Dead Workshop in the previous post, but I just want to comment on how refreshing it was to be turned loose to spend time making images just for the sake of making images. These photos were all taken during our free time during the trip, both at the Griffith Observatory & an afternoon at Venice Beach (that place is for real). The FIND experience really impressed upon us the enormous value of shooting personal work, getting back to the heart of photography and capturing things that are beautiful, inspiring, interesting, and simply worth documenting. It is an amazing tool to learn more about ourselves and to define our style and vision as artists. One of our big goals for 2013 is to spend more time shooting for us. Will you please help hold us accountable!?
