shannon & aaron: 4.1.12

Shannon & Aaron’s April Fool’s Day wedding was a tale of two theaters–two beloved Minneapolis venues, perfectly suiting the couple’s chic, urban style. The ceremony kicked off in the ultra contemporary Amber Box of the Guthrie Theater.  Next, guests hopped over to the quirky Varsity Theater, where the Loring Pasta Bar catered a fabulous spread. After enjoying a decadent buffet of cheesecakes, guests danced the night away beneath a breathtaking professional light show display.

It’s quite evident that Shannon has incredible fashion sense, and looked amazingly gorgeous in a mermaid Amy Kuschel gown and simple birdcage veil. Not to even mention her shoes. I drool. Her bouquet was out-of-this-world fabulous, filled with vibrant plum orchids, calas, and anemones.

And no April Fool’s jokes here–Shannon’s father unexpectedly passed away just a few weeks before their wedding. After so much stress and heartache, it was beautiful to see Aaron & Shannon’s families come together for such a joyful and glamorous day! To symbolize him walking her down the aisle, Shannon wore his photo in a tiny locket pinned to the back of one shoe. Aaron & Shannon are an amazing couple, whose relationship has already endured so much. We love these two, and the fact that they absolutely adore one another seeps from every image of this day!

suzy & andrew 10.9.11

Exactly 6 months ago, to the date, we were here…On a crisp, fall Sunday afternoon, at the lovely Historic Courthouse in Stillwater, MN, with Andrew & Suzy, celebrating a day that was as vintage & quirky as the two of them put together.  We had bonded with their wedding party earlier in that summer at a flea market, of all places, where Suzy & Andrew turned everyone loose with $10 to score historical objects for their reception centerpieces–and invited us along to document the whole process.  From the moment we first met them and they pitched their crazy plans to us, we knew this day would be wonderfully fun!  Neon socks and quirky pieces aside, they and their venue, inside and out, could not have been more picturesque! A tremendous thanks to the sweet girls at A Northwoods Wedding, for sharing (even more) of this fantastic wedding today!

sarah & kyle : 1.6.12

Sarah and Kyle’s elegant evening wedding at the Nicollet Island Inn was the absolute perfect start to our 2012 season!  Let me begin by saying Sarah is one of the smartest girls I’ve ever known.  We were in the same class in nursing school (yep–I am a nurse in my spare time!), where we became study buddies, then quickly great friends. I seriously don’t know how I would have soared through all of those lectures + clinicals without her brain.  Which brings me to my next point, I think she is a super smart cookie for marrying Kyle.  These two are such a strong couple and are so obviously the best of friends who care deeply for each other on every level.  I adored the simplicity of their wedding details–Sarah’s effortless JCrew dress, her handmade bouquet of white roses, and those to-die-for Hunter boots–significant because Kyle hid the ring inside them when he proposed! And although their family swore they were crazy for planning an outdoor evening wedding in January–they kept their guests cozy with hot chocolate and handwarmers during the ceremony, while the unseasonably balmy weather allowed us all to enjoy the candlelight + crisp views of the Minneapolis skyline from the Inn’s patio. This lovely evening was a small and beautiful family get-together that kept the focus exactly where it should be–these two as a couple and the start of a great marriage, and we feel so grateful to have helped capture it.
xoxoxo.

karla & andrew : 10.21.11

Every little bit of Karla & Andrew’s casual lakeshore wedding in Northern Wisconsin was complete loveliness. I truly admire the simplicity of this day.  Karla is an incredible DIYer and pulled so much of this day together with her own two hands–her hair, her flowers, plus everyone else’s hair & flowers!  These two are an amazing couple–bursting with life and so fun to hang out with.  Congrats K & A!  And on a completely unrelated note, I am so jonesing for a woodshed like this in my own backyard.  Don’t you think it’s fabulous?
